Transport

Our two free bicycles are the ideal vehicles to explore the nearby area. Cycling through the paddy fields and villages at your own pace is an unforgettable experience. No hassles! Calm and quiet peace of mind. The closest surf breaks can be reached on bicycle in less than 10 minutes.
You can also rent a small scooter for LKR 1000,- (ca. €6,5) per day. We can arrange it for you and get the scooter delivered to Sakara House. So all you have to do, is get your board and off you go 😉
If you don’t want/need your own transport, there is always the option of taking a TukTuk or the bus.
Kapila (+94 71 9322 960) is a great guy who you can trust 100%. He has been working  for us since the beginning of SakaraHouse. He knows the place and can take you everywhere in his red TukTuk. He can also organise additional TukTuks if there’s more than two people.

The bus is a cheap, but quite adventurous transport alternative. For some people it might be too much driving at breakneck speeds and blaring horns with a bus driver who seems to be chased by the devil on very narrow busy streets, but it is great if you are on a budget. Travelling from Ahangama to Galle costs about LKR 1500,- (ca. €10) in a TukTuk, on the bus it will set you back a mere LKR 40,- (ca. €0.30) if you’ve got the ‘cojones’ to do so.
