Beautiful private property, helpful and flexible host family, amazing chef and other staff.
Everything was wonderful, we had a great stay!
I am so glad we chose Sakara House for the last days of our trip through Sri Lanka. I call it "dream house". Beautifully decorated, really nice staff and extremely welcoming and friendly hosts.

It was an absolute joy to end our Sri Lankan adventure with a stay at Sakara House.
Our stay here in Ahangama has energised and inspired us in more ways then one.
The beauty of the interior and quietness of the garden will surely be missed. As well as the delicious food.
We look forward to returning and again resting our heads at Sakara House.
Fabulous staying at Sakara House.
The house itself is beautifully furnished with a lovely garden and swimming pool.
Our room was immaculate with a great outdoor bathroom. Delicious breakfast (and meals on request)
Thank you so much for a perfect holiday at Sakara House.
We have experienced so much, we don't know where to start.
The house is perfect in every way.
We love Sri Lanka, the surfing, snorkeling, beaches and the people.
Thank you for arranging our wedding. It was a perfect day.
Some day we will come back, that's for sure.

Amazing experience. Amazing house.
Loved that homely feeling as we entered the property. Loved every bit of the house, the design and the land scaping. Perfect homely house!
Then there was an amazing staff to look after us.
We had a great time and a great crowd. Look forward to be back soon.

It was a pleasure to stay at this wonderful house with this warm family, the amazing chef, the nice Uncle and the cute puppy. Not to forget Kapila, the best driver & guide!
We wish you all the best and will come back next time to have a rest.
What a fabulous & welcoming family villa! =)
As a solo traveller it was so nice to be welcomed so warmly and for everything to be organised down to the smallest detail.
The decor makes the villa more than charming and I loved the outdoor shower!
Thank you both Lindsay & Carsten for being such great hosts!
Would recommend 100% . Top Notch!
Today 136 years ago Albert Einstein was born…
That has not much to do with our stay @ Sakara House though.
What a stay!
Only one night, but the feeling is just perfect. Great family, great staff and also great food.
The newest addition to the family, a dog called Rio, is also very cute.
Every aspect of the house is so nice and detailed.
We give it 9 out 10. Reason being, we must return to find the perfect score.
Good luck for your future and keep it up!

We very much enjoyed staying at Sakara House.
We were amazed by the tasteful decoration and even started looking for some inspiration for our own homes =)
But even more than that we were delighted by the hospitality of Carsten & Lindsay and by the extraordinary cooking skills of Prabath, who seems to be an all-rounder.
Thank you for everything, we’d love to come back.
Michaela, Martin, Thomas & Seda from Germany
Thank you very much, Lindsay and Carsten, to let us share your house.
We had a wonderful time here and our children will never forget it.
It is a very good villa. The food is delicious. The swimming pool is magnificent.
There are monkeys and squirrels.
It is the best villa for holidays!

Thank you all for the love, care and attention during our holiday at Sakara House. You have made it a truly special occasion, a ‘Sri Lankan’ welcome.
The house is beautiful with attention to detail that makes every area a piece of art.
A special thanks to Prabath. Your friendly face every morning and the beautiful meals were the highlight of our stay.
Uncle and Kapila thank you for looking after us, opening the gate at ‘wee’ hours of the morning and protecting us from the monkeys. The excursion with Kapila around the rice padies and the tea plantation is definitely worth it.
Wishing you all a blessed and Happy New Year.
We will be back! That is for sure.

We live in Australia and have come to beautiful Sri Lanka to have a long awaited catch up!
We have loved staying at the gorgeous Sakara House and wish we could live here forever!
Our favourite experiences have been:
Swimming in the gorgeous pool, the lovely antiques and artwork on the walls, the lovely bathrooms, never ending fresh towles, the fire flies, the coconut water and the delicious meals.
We cannot recommend Sakara House enough.
After travelling around Sri Lanka for three weeks Sakara House was our little Garden Eden.
Every morning and every evening we were looking forward to enjoy Prabath’s delicious meals.
Uncle hunting monkeys was very funny to watch every day.
Best wishes to the whole team at Sakara House.

Hey guys .. just had one of the best surf trips of my life! So much so that I wanted to share the experience and encourage others to discover the paradise of Sri Lanka as well…
Firstly, the waves: every day, super consistent. I spent 7 days at Sakara House, between Galle and Matara, explored about 25km of Sri Lanka’s 1300 km of coastline. I had 14 surfs altogether at 7 different locations.
Checked out another 12 spots, but, wind, tide, swell etc. wasn’t quite right, so the concentration of waves along the coast is quite high.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to a lot of different surf locations around the world, stamped out 2 passports in that time. If I looked at the coast of Sri Lanka from the shore line out to sea, the granite outcrops, interspersed with limestone reefs and open beach, headlands protecting sheltered beaches, the place had a striking resemblance to the southwest of WA. Many of the waves, the way they formed and broke reminded me of so many waves I had surfed in Western Australia, waves like Lefties, Big Rock , Gallows, Carpark , Papa Bears, and Boranup, with one wave I surfed resembling Trestles in CA.
The swells were generally softer than West Oz , more like a lazy summer Indian Ocean swell or your typical Southern Californian swell.
Super clean lines and glassy everyday.
I met a few other guys who have taken up residence there and the report was always the same: Waves everyday, never under 3ft, rarely over 6ft.
One thing that made this trip way more pleasant was where I stayed and who I surfed with…
Unless you book ahead, and make serious plans, which is often difficult if you don’t know a place. Finding transport, accommodation, the waves and good places to eat can be a real challenge, especially if your traveling with surfboards.
I stayed at Sakara House.
Everything was taken care of. I just had to land at Colombo airport…
a van was waiting. The accommodation was first class!
All meals were provided everyday by two great full time Sri Lankan cooks.
Tuk Tuk’s were on standby to take you wherever you wanted to surf.
With a maximum of 8 guests, there is plenty of room to find your own space or hang out with everyone.
As far as overall crowds in the lineup each day, even for a mature surfer like myself these days , no problem getting any wave I paddled for. There was a broad range of skill sets from entry level to advanced surfers , with so many waves on offer the crowds where thin… maybe 20% of what you would find on your average Indo break.
An all round great trip, because all I had to worry about was surfing , eating and sleeping, with all the other hassles of surf travel completely taken care of.
Cant wait to get back here and explore more of the coast…
Prabath and with his little helper together with Uncle have made this a very special holiday… They have looked after our every need – from bringing in our towels, washing our small supply of clothes, cooking endless pancakes and hundreds of pieces of toast, not to mention keeping up with our need for tea.
Pool parties, wildlife watching, Uncle smacking Tommy’s bottom and Prabath climbing the trees to fetch us coconuts were just a few highlights.
Kapila, Chamra and Nissan have been fantastic partners in crime during daytime hours – we’ve been to the temple, the tailors, the tea plantations, every beach within a 50km radius… We adopted a dog which we called “Dustbin” and we have eaten in the Sri Lankan villagers’ houses one by one until we can’t face another cracker, although the ginger beer can keep rolling.
A big thank you “Es tooti” to all who have made this stay so very special. We will definitely be back to Sri Lanka to meet up with our good friends… Ayubowan.

What a fantastic house Sakara House is, to relax, unwind and spend some quality family time.
We have been welcomed everywhere we go. What a pleasure to be greeted by a smiling face wherever you go – nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you to Prabath and his team for taking care of us and feeding us the most delicious meals and to Kapila and his team for taking us everywhere we wanted to go.
We will remember Sri Lanka fondly and look forward to another visit.

Sri Lanka. It’s not called Serendip for nothing. It’s been a unique privilege to spend time at Sakara House, not least because of the abundant wildlife and wonderful team of Prabath, Uncle and Kapila who have looked after us as though we were royalty. Their friendly and open way of life has touched our hearts in so many ways – some of our favourite memories include having high tea with the head monk at the local temple, seeing a cow cross the road on the pedestrian crossing and, of course, having the most delicious meals prepared for us.
We will remember Sri Lanka for a long time to come.

We stayed at the Sakara House in April 2013 and had the luxury of having the entire villa for just the two of us. It’s an amazing place to stay and Prabath and Uncle are excellent host.
We really enjoyed our stay and the food that Prabath cooked for us. The place is only a short tuk tuk ride from the Midigama surfspots and Kabalana. Town itself is really quiet so we spend most of our time at the villa. You can do great day trips to places like Mirissa or Galle which offer a bit more tourist excitement and restaurant options.
We would definitely stay here again.
We have just enjoyed 2 weeks at Sakara House.
It is a delightful villa – elegant, stylish and comfortable inside with a lovely cool sala. Outside is a beautiful, peaceful garden full of flowers and wildlife, plus a stunning pool.
Prabath was unfailingly helpful and an excellent cook.
And, of course, Kapila was always on hand to take us wherever we wanted to go!

What a wonderful house this is! We have had a great time. It has been such a treat to stay here.
Great interior, garden, pool and staff!
Really spoilt by Prabath. He’s an amazing chef.
Can’t wait till our next visit.
This has been the last stop on the Parkyn/Hartley 3 week tour and is by far the most luxurious! The decor is perfect for a relaxing vibe and the rooms work well for a great feeling of space.
We’ve loved the pool, the front porch and games around the kitchen table. We visited Weligama, Midigama and Wijaya. These beaches are all good for swimming and surfing.
An evening stroll around the lanes of this village is amazing. I think the happiest, friendliest people in Sri Lanka live just around the corner!
A massive THANK YOU to Prabath for spoiling us with fantastic meals every night.
Look forward to another visit some day.
Good luck with the future bookings. You’ve done a great job!
Love Nicki, Eleza, Rob and Bett.
My name is Nicholas Tubbs. We stayed at this wonderful villa from 17th December 2012 to 2nd January 2013.
My wife, 4 children and I have rented houses all over the world and seldom enjoyed anywhere as much as here. Great house, fab pool and unbelievably lovely house Manager, Prabath for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Feel free to call me on 0044 (0)208 746 1994 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and I would only be too happy to help promote this fantastic villa and staff in anyway I can. I can not recommend it highly enough – and, for the record, have never even met the owners so you unlikely to find a more unbiased review anywhere else! Enjoy!
